CHRIS ZURBRUGG AHS Class of 1983
Chris Zurbrugg, a 1983 AHS graduate, was an All-Ohio quarterback in 1982 for the Aviators. At AHS, he earned four letters in football, three in basketball, two in track and one in baseball. Zurbrugg went on to play football at the University of Michigan where he won three varsity letters for the Wolverines. While at Michigan, he held records for passing yardage and touchdowns against the Purdue Boilermakers in 1984. He is also a member of the Michigan “M Club”. Upon receiving a Bachelor degree in Education from Michigan, Zurbrugg was named as assistant football coach for Ann Arbor Pioneer High School in Ann Arbor, MI in 1987. The 1987 squad captured the Michigan Division I state football title and the following season finished as regional finalist with an 11-2 record. He returned to the Alliance area in 1990 when he was named head football coach at Sebring McKinley High School. He then won the River Valley League title in 1994 as the coach of the Edison High School Wildcats. They were winless the previous season. Zurbrugg became the head football coach of the Alliance Aviators in 2000 and coached his alma mater for three seasons. This past spring he was an assistant coach for the Alliance Division II state championship track team. Chris Zurburgg and his wife, Christina, live in Alliance with their five children (Caroline 11, Carissa 10, Mary 6, Erika 4 and Brendan 9 months). |
