VIRGIL "RED" ARTINO AHS Class of 1942
Red Artino participated on the football, baseball and track teams at AHS. He was named second-team All-Stark County fullback in 1941. He went on to play football and baseball for Mount Union College where he was the first player to earn four varsity letters on the gridiron. Red was inducted into the Mount Union College M-Club Hall of Fame in 1979. Mr. Artino served as a teacher in the Alliance School District for 34 years before retiring in 1986. In addition to his athletic career, Artino has been a very strong supporter of Alliance during his entire life and continues to be very involved during his retirement years. |
