TERRY TOLERTON AHS Class of 1960
Terry Tolerton, a long time businessman and supporter of Alliance High School athletics, was a four year golf standout at AHS. He later went on to play golf at Ohio State University where he played with future professional golfers Tom Weiskopf and Ed Sneed, while being coached by OSU Athletic Hall of Fame coach Bob Kepler, who guided Ohio State golf teams from 1938 to 1965. Terry graduated from OSU in 1965 with a degree in marketing, entered the U.S. Air Force and served in Vietnam. Employed by The Bridgestone Tire and Rubber Company, he was, in 1972, the number one salesperson in the world for the company. A year later, he purchased the Goodyear store in Alliance and opened Terry’s Tire Town with three employees. By 2003, the business has grown to ten locations in three states, employing 250 people. Terry has been married to Judy Rennels Tolerton, AHS Class of 1959, for nearly forty years. They have three children, Will ‘85, John ’88, and Christina. Terry now lives in Hilton Head, South Carolina. He says that golf is still a big part of his life. |
