ROY "SKEETER" ALLEN AHS Class of 1959
Roy “Skeeter” Allen was an athletic standout in football, basketball and baseball at AHS. In football, he was an offensive end, defensive halfback and punter. He was a member of the Aviators’ 1958 Associated Press Football State Championship team. He was co-captain of the team and earned All-Stark County honors and All-Ohio Honorable Mention. In basketball, Roy was a forward, earned a varsity letter in the 1958-59 season and was co-captain of the team. He was named MVP and All-Stark County. In baseball, he was a shortstop and first baseman. He earned three varsity letters and was All-Stark County his senior year. Upon graduation, he attended Wittenberg University and graduated with a degree in marketing. At Wittenberg, Roy was a four-year letterman in football, earning MVP honors his senior season. He was also a four-year letterman in baseball and captain of the team. Roy Allen is a member of the Wittenberg’s Athletic Hall of Fame. He is chairman and CEO of Buckeye Corrugated, Inc. in Wooster, Ohio. Roy and his wife live in Akron. They are parents of three children. |
