ROSE JOHNSON WADE AHS Class of 1980
Rose Johnson Wade, a 1980 AHS graduate, broke AHS records in the 100-yard dash with a time of 12.5 seconds and in the 200-yard dash with a time of 25.6 seconds. She qualified for the State meet in both events. After graduating from AHS, Rose attended Kent State University where she earned a track scholarship and was an All Mid-American Conference selection. She set the Kent State record for the 100-meter dash in 1984 with a time of 11.61 seconds. A record that stood at Kent until 2006. Rose was selected as an alternate for the United States Olympic team in 1984. She joined the United States Air Force in 1984 where she ran track on the Air Force National team. Currently, she is a Master Sergeant and is the Unit Training Manager for the Combat Readiness Training Center in Savannah, GA. She married David Wade (AHS Class of 1978) in 1985. They are the parents of three children. |
