Rev. Carol Babb Brooks – Graduated 1961; Inducted 2010

Rev. Carol Babb Brooks began her teaching career in 1967 in Cleveland, Ohio.  Over a thirty-five year period Mrs. Brooks served as an elementary teacher, assistant principal, principal, assistant superintendent of human resources, assistant superintendent of business services and retired in 2002 after five years as the deputy superintendent of the Oceanside Unified School District in Oceanside, California.

In 2000 Rev. Brooks was licensed to preach and currently serves as the Minister of Education at St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Oceanside, California.  Prior to her call to proclaim the gospel, Rev. Brooks studied at Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary in Mill Valley, California, served as a trainer/facilitator for the Southern Baptist Association in the area of Sunday school, church growth and evangelism, and she has been a college instructor at Faith Temple Christian College.

Rev. Brooks’ community involvement has included serving as president and member of the board of directors for the Vista Community Clinic and also president and member of the board of directors for KOTC Community Television.  She has devoted time to the NAACP, the North County African American Women’s Association, the Women’s Community Club and the Oceanside Pacific Kiwanis.  She has been recognized by the Soroptimist International of Oceanside as a Woman of Distinction and by the NAACP as a Distinguished Educator.

Even in retirement, Carol continues to stay connected with students and parents.  She mentors youth and encourages them to strive for excellence in education.  Rev. Brooks urges students to, “Dare to dream, have a vision and a plan.”  She is always available to assist parents in navigating the educational system to ensure the best for their children.

Rev. Brooks is married to retired Sergeant Major Alphonso C. Brooks and they have two sons and three grandchildren.
