Teresa Pandin Skellett Memorial Scholarship
Esther L. Pandin, AHS 1946, daughter of Antonio & Domenica Teresa (Antonini) Pandin, passed away in January 2022. As part of her legacy, she established and funded the TERESA PANDIN SKELLETT MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP, named in honor of her deceased sister. This scholarship will permit presentation of awards to two graduating seniors of Alliance High School who intend to further their studies in pursuit of the fields of education and/or medicine. Each award is in the amount of One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00), and award recipients are selected on the basis of academics and financial need, while also taking into account other scholarships which may be awarded.
Esther dearly loved her family, and was in turn dearly loved by them. She felt strongly about the need for education, and regretted in part that she was not afforded the opportunity to pursue her own education beyond high school. During her lifetime, she worked as a switchboard operator at the Ohio Bell Telephone Company in Alliance. After switchboards became automated she served as a dispatcher for telephone installers and repair crews working out of Canton.

Deeply devout in the Catholic Faith, Esther was always ready to help others. The establishment of the Teresa Pandin Skellett Memorial Scholarship is part of Esther‟s legacy to help deserving students pursue their own education and careers as her sister had been able to do. Teresa taught in Alliance at St, Joseph Catholic Grade School and later in New York State. Esther hoped to help others by offering opportunities for students who might otherwise not have been able to pursue their dreams.
