MIKE HOLMES AHS Class of 1986
Mike Holmes, a member of the class of 1986, was a two year starter for the football team playing defensive back and wide receiver. He was a member of the 1983 team which finished 10-0 in the regular season. As team captain in 1985, he earned First Team All Federal League Honors and was a starter at defensive back in the Stark vs Summit County All-Star game. He earned a football scholarship to Bowling Green State University in 1986 where he was a four-year starter at corner back and safety. He was a starter at defensive back as a “true freshman” and was selected by the Sporting News as one of the Top True Freshmen in the 1986 season. As a senior in 1989, he was a team captain. Mike also excelled in track at both AHS and BGSU. For the Aviators, he was a three-year letter winner competing in the 110-meter high hurdles and 400-meter relay. Mike was selected First Team All Federal League and All Stark County in both events. He qualified for the State Track meet as a member of the 400-meter relay team which set a new AHS record. He was a two-year letterman at Bowling Green in the 110-meter high hurdles and the 400-meter relay and a team captain. Mike was also active in the fellowship of Christian Athletes. Mike now lives in Atlanta with his wife, Brenda, and two-year old son Kenan. He works as a pharmaceutical specialist for Rache Pharmaceuticals. |
