BILL LAVERY AHS Class of 1971
Bill Lavery, a 1971 AHS graduate, was a scholar athlete at Alliance High School. He earned three varsity letters in golf including winning a district championship in 1970. Lavery finished tenth in the state during his junior and senior campaigns. He finished his varsity golf career with a record of 50 wins, 13 losses and one tie. Upon graduating from Alliance, Bill attended Miami University of Ohio where he was a three-year letterman for the Redskins (now the Redhawks). He was part of the 1974 Mid-American Conference championship team and was a recipient of the Byron Nelson Scholarship while at Miami. Lavery, who is the President and CEO of Lavery Chevrolet Buick, Inc. in Alliance, achieved athletic success after college. In 1995 he captured the Northeastern Ohio Amateur Championship along with being a seven-time Alliance Country Club golf champion. Bill Lavery lives in Alliance with his wife Sally, and is a long-time financial supporter of Alliance High School athletic programs. |
