CHUCK KREINER          AHS Head Wrestling Coach 1980 to 1992
Chuck Kreiner is probably best known as the founder of Alliance’s Top Gun Wrestling Tournament, one of the best regular season tournaments in Ohio.  Coach Kreiner, however, really put the Alliance wrestling program ‘on the map’ during his tenure as the Aviators’ wrestling coach.
During his 12 years as head coach, he developed thirteen state qualifiers, including seven state placers, led by State heavy-weight champion Keith Cameron.
With Kreiner as coach, AHS won a sectional title in 1988 (a 13-1 season).  His teams fared very well in the district finishing fourth in 1984, seventh in 1985 and third in 1988.  During those same seasons, the Aviators placed 15th at the state meet in 1984, ninth in 1985 and 11th in 1988.
Kreiner passed away May 2017, 2016. He taught special education and led the ‘Work Study’ Program at Alliance High School.
Chuck was a graduate of Cuyahoga Falls High School and earned both his Bachelors and Masters Degrees from the University of Akron.  He was very proud to be inducted into the AHS Athletic Hall of Fame.  He is survived by his wife, Cynthia and his two sons and two daughters.
