KENDELL DAVIS-CLARK AHS Class of 2005
Kendell Davis-Clark graduated in the AHS Class of 2005. He is one of the greatest athletes to ever compete at Alliance. It’s hard to determine which sport was his best because he was a super star on both the football field and the track oval for Alliance. Davis-Clark played for Alliance head football coach Ron Kuceyeski and was a player that opposing teams feared. Davis-Clark was blessed with top end straight line speed that few if any teams could contain. As good as Davis-Clark was on the football field, in addition, he earned statewide acclaim for head track coach Jerry Hammerton’s track and field team at Alliance. On a hot 90-degree day at Jesse Owens Memorial Track in Columbus, with Davis-Clark leading the way his senior year, Alliance won the 2005 State Division II Track and Field Championship. It marked the third State Track Championship in Aviator history (previously in 1976 and 1984) and its first in Division II. Davis became the first four-time state champion in AHS track history by repeating as the Division II State Champion in the boys 100 and 200 meter races. Davis clocked a 10.93 to win the 100 meter crown and a 21.67 to capture the 200 meter title. The Aviators won the state title with 33 points, outdistancing Heath High School’s 29. After the trophy presentation, Coach Hammerton paced the Davis-Clark led Aviators for a victory lap around the Jesse Owens track. Alliance fans came out of the stands, into the track infield, to celebrate with the team. The Aviators state qualifiers were seniors Kendell Davis-Clark, Steve Love and Mark Garner, freshman Jeff White and alternate Chris Bivins. Davis received a full football scholarship to Michigan State University where he started in the secondary for the Spartans. |
