ANITA JORNEY-GIFFORD AHS Class of 1981
Anita Jorney-Gifford participated in volleyball, basketball and track as a student at Alliance High School. She has enjoyed an extremely successful career as a volleyball coach and, as a result, was inducted into the Ohio High School Volleyball Coaches’ Association’s Hall of Fame in 2000. Following her graduation from Kent State University, she began her teaching and coaching career at Wooster High School where she has served as head volleyball coach for the past 12 years, compiling a record of 243-64. She took her teams to state tournaments in 1993, 1994, 1995 and 1996 and was state runner-up in 1994. Her teams have won eight Federal League Championships and won 78 straight Federal League matches. She was voted Division I State Coach of the Year in 1996 and 1997. Her other coaching experience includes head softball coach at Wooster, 1990-1996, as well as stints at Alliance as a JV Volleyball coach, 1984, Stanton Middle School girls’ basketball coach, one season, and as a volunteer coach. |
