JESSE WHITE AHS Volunteer and Booster
Jesse White, his wife, Ann, and their family moved to Alliance in 1977. Almost immediately, Jesse began to work the AHS athletes. He met Aviator head basketball coach, Harry Fails, and worked with one of Fails’ players, Kevin Gaffney, who would later go on to the University of Cincinnati and then to the NBA. Gaffney had a severe thigh bruise at the time. Jesse continued to assist Alliance athletes with rehabilitation and training, continuing to today. During the past 30 years, he has missed only three Aviator football games and two of those were because of the graduation of two of his children, Joanna and Joshua, from the University of St. Augustine Physical Therapy Program. They have entered practice with their father at White Physical Therapy Services. Jesse estimates he has worked with more than 40 different coaches and athletic directors since he started helping and volunteering with AHS athletes. For the past 15 years, he has been a community sponsor of the American League summer baseball team, on which many high school age players are able to improve their skills during the summer months. Jesse and Ann, who has served as president of the AHS athletic booster club, have continued their interest in high school athletics. Their four children, Joanna, Joshua, Benjamin and Bethany, are AHS honor graduates. Jesse is proud of his involvement with the Alliance Aviator athletic program and is happy to call many of the coaches and administrators his friends. He says he plans to continue to be active in helping the student athletes of AHS as long as he is welcome and productive. |
