JACK ROCKHILL AHS Class of 1948
As a student at AHS and before his graduation in 1948, Jack Rockhill was a four-year letterman in baseball. During his career he never suffered a loss and never allowed more than five runs in a game. Jack pitched two no-hitters and two one-hitters during his career at Alliance. He was also a member of the Salem American Legion team where he went 8-0, including one no-hitter and several two-hitters. The no-hitter came during the Tri-County Championships at Gnadenhutten, where he was introduced to Hall of Famer, Cy Young. Rockhill was scouted by the Philadelphia Phillies, New York Giants and Washington Senators. He enjoyed a short time in the Senators’ minor league system before enlisting in the Marines in 1950. After serving in the military, he attended Canton Actual Business College and Kent State University before becoming a private investigator and debt collector for Nationwide Audit and Investigations of Canton. In 1966 he founded Fidelity Collections and Investigations and later founded Medical Receivables, Inc., a medical billing service. |
