JIM HANNY AHS Class of 1943
Jim Haney was a four-sport athlete for the Aviators, participating in football (four seasons), track (three seasons), basketball (2 seasons) and wrestling (one season). Following graduation in 1943, he served in the armed forces for three years before attending the College of the Pacific in Stockton, California, where he was a track and cross country standout. He became a professor of physical education at Stanislaus State College, where he has coached five sports, including baseball, track and field, cross country, basketball and golf. His golf teams have garnered more than 2,300 wins and 12 NCAA Division III national titles. His golf teams were at the nationals 17 consecutive years, finishing in the top five nationally 17 times. He is a member of the Golf Coaches Association of America Hall of Fame (1992), California State University, Stanislaus Athletic Hall of Fame (2000) and University of the Pacific Athletic Hall of Fame (2000). |
