GARY L WILSON AHS Class of 1958
As a student at AHS, Gary Wilson participated in football, basketball and track. His efforts on the athletic field earned him an athletic scholarship to Duke University where he was a member of the schools 1961 Cotton Bowl Championship team. Following graduation, he received an MBA from the Wharton Graduate School of Finance and Commerce at the University of Pennsylvania. He has held executive positions with Trans-Philippines Investment Corporation and Marriott Corporation. Wilson now serves on the Board of Trustees at Duke University and the NCAA Foundation. He has been recognized for a student recreational and fitness facility on the Duke University campus and for his contributions to Alliance, including financial aid arrangements to help Alliance High School students attend Duke University via the Elvin J. Wilson Scholarship. He is a director of The Walt Disney Company. He joined Disney in 1985 and served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer until 1990. Wilson is currently Chairman of the Board and a principal investor in Northwest Airlines, the nation’s fourth largest airline. |
