FLOYD SIEGENTHALER AHS Class of 1926
Floyd Siegenthaler excelled in football and basketball in both high school and collegiate competition. Performing for Alliance High School as a senior, he was a member of the 1925 football team that posted an 8-1 record and the 1925-26 basketball team, posting a 14-4 mark. In his junior year, Siegenthaler played for a basketball team that was 17-4, the third-best record in Alliance history. Three of the losses were by two points or less, 15-14 to Cleveland East, 26-24 to Canton McKinley, and 22-21 to Youngstown Rayen. Attending Ohio Wesleyan University, he was a three-year selection to numerous All-Buckeye Conference and All-Ohio Honor teams in basketball and football. Siegenthaler was inducted as a charter member of the Ohio Wesleyan Athletic Hall of Fame. A veteran with two and half years of service in the Armed Forces, Siegenthaler worked at the Alliance Post Office as a carrier and later as the superintendent of mails. He resides in Alliance and remains busy as the secretary of the Alliance Elks #467. |
