F.G."BUCK" RODGERS AHS Class of 1944
Francis G. Rodgers, a 1944 AHS graduate, excelled in football, basketball and baseball for the Aviators. He was captain of both the basketball and baseball teams and earned All-County and All-State honors in football. He was also voted most valuable player on the football team. Buck was also successful academically and held the respect of his classmates. He was elected president of his class all four years at AHS. In 1970 he was named an AHS Distinguished Alumnus. Following graduation, he enlisted in the Air Force for two years before enrolling at Miami University at Oxford, Ohio. He joined the football team at Miami and continued to excel academically. Buck graduated from Miami in 1950 and accepted his first job as a sales trainee for International Business Machines. He rose in the marketing ranks until being elected the vice-president of marketing at IBM, a position he held until his retirement in 1984. Buck Rodgers has written two bestselling books, “The IBM Way” and “Getting the Best Out of Yourself and Others”. He and his wife of more than 50 years, Helen, have three children and seven grandchildren. They make their home in Connecticut and spend their winters in Florida. |
