EARL MARSH AHS Class of 1918
Earl H. Marsh lettered in football, basketball and track while at AHS. Further education gained him a BS from Mount Union College and a MA from New York University. While at Mount Union he played quarterback and received All-Ohio Mention. He played on, and was captain of, the basketball squad. In 1922-23 he was Mount’s top scorer and again received All-Ohio Mention. Mr. Marsh also lettered in track. Mr. Marsh coached football, basketball and track at Oakwood High School in Dayton for 32 years. He taught advanced math during his coaching years, and has maintained a home In Sebring, Ohio, since his retirement in 1955. His most thrilling experiences were playing with Vogeli, Reese, Hawkins and Johnson on one of the best AHS basketball teams, and scoring the winning basket in a 5th period overtime for Mount Union against Ohio Wesleyan. Marsh also passed to Larry Brown for Mount’s only touchdown against a Notre Dame team coached by Knute Rockne and starring the great George Gipp. |
