DOUG RAY AHS Class of 1987
Doug Ray was a golf standout at AHS, graduating in 1987. He was the Alliance MVP all four years and was named All-stark County all four years as well, earning county MVP honors his last two seasons and qualifying for the state tournament both years. In the individual State competition, Doug finished as high as eighth.. He was also a member of the baseball team at AHS. After receiving a scholarship to play golf at Bowling Green State University, he led the Falcons in scoring average for three years and finished in the top 10 of the Mid-American Conference Championships his junior and senior seasons serving as the BGSU team captain both years. After graduating from Bowling Green with a degree in marketing he turned pro and competed on the Tommy Armour Tour in Florida. During his golfing career, he won the Florida Fun-n-Sun collegiate tournament as well as the Canton Open in 1993. He is also a two-time qualifier for the Western Amateur, winning the qualifier one year. He is now an investment representative with Butler, Wick & Co., Inc. in its Canton office. Doug resides in Alliance. |
