DAVE CLEGG AHS Head Cross Country & Track Coach 1974-1992
Dave Clegg served as AHS Head Cross County and Track coach from 1974 to 1992. He is now coaching in the North Canton School District. Clegg was named Stark County Coach of the Year on eight occasions, six times in track and twice in cross country. He coached 16 Federal League Championship teams, eight in track and eight in cross country. He coached five individual state champions, a total of 36 All-Ohio runners and State Championship teams in 1976 and 1984. Coach Clegg was inducted into the Ohio Track Hall of Fame in 1985. Dave Clegg coached both boys and girls swimming at AHS, for one year as he started in 1974 and finished his tenure at AHS coaching both swimming teams from 1990 to 1992. Clegg’s wife, Judith Hales, AHS Class of 1958, is a teacher at Parkway Elementary School. They have three children: Rob, 30; Heather, 27; and Katie, 19. |
