ANNE WHITAKER LEVIN AHS Class of 1987
Anne Whitaker Levin, a 1987 graduate of AHS, earned 10 varsity letters in three sports, track, cross country and basketball. In 1984, she became the first female freshman athlete at AHS to qualify for the state in any sport when she qualified for the state track meet. She went on to qualify two more times in track and twice as a member of the cross country team. In 1985, as a sophomore, she became the first female athlete from AHS honored as Most Valuable Player in a Federal League track meet, as she led AHS to its first Federal League girls’ track championship. She also was the first female athlete from AHS to qualify for the state meet in two sports, track and cross country. Anne broke numerous records at AHS and still holds the record for the 100-meter hurdles. During her junior year, she was named Most Valuable Player in field events at the Stark County Track Meet winning the high jump and long jump. She earned All-Stark County honors all four years in track and three years in cross country. During her senior year, she won four first places at the district meet, qualifying at the regionals for state competition in three of those events. She graduated from Kent State University where she also excelled in track. Anne Whitaker Levin has practiced clinical social work for the past fifteen years. She and her husband of fourteen years, David, reside with their two children in Chapel Hill, NC. |
