Alton F. Davis – Graduated 1907; Inducted 1967

Alton Frank Davis, who was awarded an honorary Doctor of Science degree by Mount Union College in 1951, was vice president of the Lincoln Electric Company in Cleveland.  Mr. Davis graduated from Ohio State University and lived in Shaker Heights, but still maintained an active interest in his hometown.  He wrote numerous manuals and publications on welding. 

Alton Davis passed away on May 25, 1959 and is buried in Lake View Cemetery in Cleveland, Ohio with his spouse Carrie S. Davis who passed away on August 8, 1966.

Biographical Update: In 1979 the Alton F. and Carrie S. Davis Fund was created as a supporting organization of the Cleveland Foundation.  The focus of the fund is to support local nonprofits for programs that are regional in focus and that address issues in the areas of arts and culture, education, healthcare, population control, regional development, social services and preservation of the natural environment.
