JEN WOLLAM BUTCHER AHS Class of 1998
Jen Wollam Butcher earned eight letters in cross country and track during her career at Alliance High School. In November of 2003, she has just finished her first season as the Aviators cross country coach. She still holds school records in the 5 K (18:02.5), the 1600 meters (5:07.7) and the 3200 meters (10:54.2). Jen earned numerous honors as an athlete at AHS, including two State Division I titles in cross country after qualifying to the meet for three years. As a four time Federal League champion in two sports she also finished as high as second in the 3200 meters and seventh in the 1600 meters, qualifying for the state meet three times in each event and was the Mideast Cross Country Champion in 1997. She was also an Academic All- Ohio selection five times. Following graduation, Jen attended Malone College and earned her Middle Childhood Education Degree in 2002. While at Malone, she was a member of the 1999 NAIA national championship cross country team. She earned All-American Mideast Conference honors all four years in cross country and once in track as well as a cross country AMC title. In track she was qualified to indoor nationals four times in the 5000 meters and qualified to the outdoors three times in both the 5000 meters and the 1000 meters. During her collegiate career, she was a five time All-American in both the NAIA and the National Christian College Athletic Association, as well as earning NCCAA Academic All-American honors three times. Jen married Alliance and Malone graduate Jason Butcher in June 2002. |
